ten Thousand Demons
Young children do not yet have the fully developed ability to remember on their own; instead, they rely on the narratives of family members to shape their understanding of the past. But when those narratives are withheld, or left incomplete to protect the child, imagination and fear take over, distorting reality and shaping lasting emotional impressions.
Ten Thousand Demons explores this unsettling space between memory and myth, where the unknown grows into something far larger and more haunting than reality itself. Through manipulated stills from my father’s Super 8 footage, I visualize the eerie, psychological weight of a childhood shaped by absence, silence, and unanswered questions surrounding my fathers suicide.
