Five (Copy)
I remember the large grass mounds in the hospital grounds… the sound of the dinner gong and the angry nurse.
Many years later at school we are lectured on the pitfalls of smoking. My friend tells me how my father really died.
He left his glasses on the side.
At night the Invisible Man chased me and my brother. He didn't have a face or a smile.
My daughter asks me “how did your daddy die?” I think to myself "you're only five; you're too young to know; I won't speak to you about this now."
